Police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old found unresponsive in a Gainesville home.

Emergency medical services were sent to the home in the 3000 block of Shades Valley Lane about 9 a.m. Sunday, according to Gainesville police spokeswoman Cpl. Jessica Van.

The baby’s grandmother told police and medical officials she left the home for about 30 minutes, Van said. When she returned, the child was unconscious.

The baby was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but was ultimately pronounced dead just before 10 a.m.

An autopsy performed Tuesday found no signs of trauma, Van said. Authorities are still awaiting the results of other tests, she said.
