Depending on where you are, you may see scattered storms Monday afternoon and into the evening. Then, metro Atlantans can expect temperatures to climb during the week, according to forecasters.

“We’ll get some breaks at time and not everybody will get these storms,” Channel 2 Meteorologist Karen Minton said. “But those that do, (expect) a lot of lightning and really slow-moving, heavy downpours.”

Around 1:3o p.m., storms were being reported south of I-20.

There is about a 30 percent chance of rain as temperatures reach the upper 80s, Minton said. And things will continue to heat up, topping out around 94 degrees Wednesday, she said.

Scattered showers are possible through Thursday, Minton said. Friday’s Fourth of July forecast cools off slightly, with highs reaching the upper 80s. There is about a 10 percent of chance of rain for the holiday.
