An Athens man has been indicted for the murder of his girlfriend earlier this year.

Police arrested Antonio Littlejohn, 33, more than two months after the death of 22-year-old Jennifer Jacobs. Jacobs was found dead in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest on Jan. 29, Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez told AJC.com.

Littlejohn has been in custody at the Riverbend Correctional Facility for possession of drugs since May, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Following the indictment, according to Athens-Clarke County Superior Court Records, Littlejohn will be arraigned July 18, facing charges of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault and possession of a knife or firearm during a crime.

According to the police report, 55-year-old Barry Jerome Nelson was also involved in the incident but as of Monday afternoon no charges had been filed against Nelson in connection with Jacobs’ death.
