Authorities in Clayton County are considering arson as a possible cause for a fire that sent a car repair and service center up in flames Sunday morning.

The fire broke out at I.C.E. Motorsports, an automobile service center located in the 5100 block of Ga. 85 near Forest Park. Crews were sent to the motorsports shop about 4:15 a.m.

“Upon arrival, our crews found the structure to have heavy fire conditions, so they immediately began defensive operations,” Clayton County fire spokeswoman Laura Richardson said.

No one was hurt in the blaze, Richardson said. The official cause is still under investigation.

“Whenever investigators look at a fire and consider arson, they take into consideration a number of factors like any accelerants or the time of day,” Richardson said.

Richardson said investigators are not releasing specific details about the fire.
