When a man pulled a gun on an 18-year-old at a DeKalb County barbershop Tuesday afternoon, the teenager pulled out a weapon of his own and shot him in self-defense, authorities said.

The man was taken to a hospital after the incident, which happened along Redan Road in Stone Mountain, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent.

Investigators said the man, who is in his early 30s, went to the barbershop to confront the teen. The pair got into an argument outside of the business, Vincent said.

At some point, the man pulled out a handgun and started shooting, police said. The victim pulled out his own weapon and shot the suspect in the legs, Vincent said.

The suspect is recovering at the hospital, Vincent said. Upon his release, he will face charges in the shooting.

The teen will not face charges in the incident, officials said.
