A Smyrna man died Friday morning after his truck rear-ended the back of a tractor-trailer on I-75 in Cobb County, causing major delays for hours.

Maurio Andrews, 32, was traveling northbound in a 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche when he ran into the rear driver’s side corner of a tractor-trailer between Windy Hill and Delk roads, Marietta police spokesman Officer Jared Rakestraw said.

Rakestraw said the tractor-trailer, driven by Timothy Bach, 36, of Tennessee, was stalled due to a mechanical issue.

“As a result of the collision, Andrews was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Rakestraw said. Bach was not injured.
