The Dorchester County coroner has confirmed a child was killed in Summerville, South Carolina, on Thursday night.

Summerville police were called about 10 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of Langley Drive, according to CBS news affiliate WCSC. Multiple shots were heard near the location. Once police arrived, they found the 5-year-old girl, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child’s name has not yet been released.
