A 12-year-old Cobb County boy who left home behind the wheel of his mother’s car returned Wednesday night, police said.

The boy left home in a 1999 white Ford Mustang around 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to Major Matt Boyd with the Powder Springs Police Department. Earlier Wednesday, police asked for help in locating the boy, who was believed to be in the car in the Six Flags or Martin Luther King Drive area of Atlanta, Boyd said.

Details regarding how he returned home were not released.
