Rapper Bow Wow has experienced success in music, television and film, and the controversial musician now has his eye on an unusual new career, considering his small stature: professional wrestling.
The 33-year-old, who stars on WeTV’s “Growing Up Hip-Hop: Atlanta,” shared an update with his fans Monday on Twitter regarding the next steps in his career. Though the platinum-selling musician, whose real name is Shad Moss, plans to make more music, his focus will be acting, he revealed in the Monday morning tweet.
At 13, he hit the music scene as Lil’ Bow Bow producing such So So Def hits as “Bounce With Me” and “Puppy Love,” leading to his first album “Beware of Dog” going double platinum. Moss eventually collaborated with artists including Omarion and Chris Brown, becoming one of the premier young talents in hip-hop. By 2016, however, he announced he planned to retire.
Fast forward nearly five years, the Atlanta-based star said on social media that he will release his final album to close out his musical career in 2021. He said he soon plans to drop his “last album,” but the career aspiration that caught most of his followers’ attention was his plans to join the WWE.
“Now i know this might sound crazy... BUT... after i drop my last album. I will focus on tv and film. And joining the @WWE its been a life long childhood dream to wrestle in the WWE!!!!”
The “Lottery Ticket” star even shared his intention to tag team with his friend Rey Mysterio, who is a current WWE wrestler known for his performances in the SmackDown series. Bow Wow admitted he would have to get in shape prior to moving into the physically taxing role, but his fans seemed generally pumped about the possibility.
There were a few who made mention of his small stature posing a challenge for fulfilling his childhood dream.
