A bomb threat forced the evacuation of Daytona Beach International Airport on Wednesday morning, according to reports. Authorities with bomb-sniffing dogs swept the complex but no bomb or weapons were found.

All incoming flights had to be diverted and police ordered the entire terminal cleared out of an abundance of caution, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.

A Delta flight scheduled to arrive in Daytona from Atlanta was also delayed, according to reports.

The threat was sent through an email Wednesday morning and also warned of a plan to “shoot up” the facility, according to reports. The email was sent to an airport staff member, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, which cited airport spokeswoman Joanne Magley.

Police were first called about 9:18 a.m. Shortly before 11 a.m. police gave the all-clear and reopened the airport.

There was no confirmation on the credibility of the threat, and law enforcement officials have not said where the email was sent from. The communication contained a subject line that read, “To whom it may concern.”

One flight took off shortly before the threat was received, but other planes were locked down, reports said. An arriving American Airlines flight was also diverted.

Those evacuated were mostly airport employees.
