A 6-year-old boy who went missing Friday night at a Lake Allatoona-area campsite was found dead early Saturday, a spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The body of Corday Dimilo Duffy of College Park was found in Lake Allatoona in about four to five feet of water almost 25 to 30 feet from the shore, Lt. Jay Baker said in an emailed statement. A local fisherman who had a bow-fishing boat outfitted with lights assisted in finding the body.

Duffy went missing from his family’s campsite, which was close to the water’s edge, at about 7:15 p.m., Baker said. There was a large log leading from the shore into the water near where Duffy’s body was found.

Baker said it appeared Duffy “may have walked out on the log and then fell in water just over his head.”

There was no indication of foul play, but as in any child death, an autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in coming days, Baker said.
