The body found on the shore of Lake Lanier was that of a 46-year-old homeless man who camped in the area, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

Through fingerprints, investigators identified the man as Chad Frank Lovett, Deputy Doug Rainwater said.

Lovett's body was found Monday at Mary Alice Park by visitors to the lakeside park. Investigators searched the area for clues and the body was taken to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy, which was completed Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office said.

“At this point we have determined that Chad Lovett was homeless and living in a tent at a campsite at the park,” Rainwater said in an emailed statement. “An acquaintance of his informed us that he owned a kayak and would often go out on the water and to various islands on the lake.”

The kayak was not located, Rainwater said. Foul play is not suspected.
