Wonder if they’ll feature the Tomahawk Chop pose, hmm . . .

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to do yoga in the shadow of a big league baseball stadium, well, now’s your chance to find out. The Battery Atlanta is offering free yoga sessions on the green lawn of its Plaza now through the end of October.

Presented in partnership with with Vita-Prana Yoga, the one-hour sessions will take place at 5:30 p.m. every Thursday evening except on Braves' game days (We checked the schedule, and with the Bravos away in Denver this Thursday for a game against the Colorado Rockies, that means it's downward dog time at the Plaza this Thursday). You'll need to bring your own yoga mat or towel.

But wait, there’s more! This Thursday night also marks the debut of “Improv in the Plaza.” Those merry pranksters from Whole World Theater of Atlanta will take over the Georgia Power Pavilion at the Battery for a free, family-friendly performance starting at 8 p.m. Two more Thursday night improv sessions are scheduled for September 14 and October 19.

Apparently it’s not all about power hitting and high-speed pitching out at the new mixed-use development that abuts SunTrust Park, aka the Home of the Atlanta Braves.

“We have this terrific space that lends itself to hold some really fun and unique events,” said Jeremy Strife, vice president of the Braves Development Company. “Relieve the stress of the day with a yoga workout or a ton of laughs and begin the weekend early.”

All of the yoga and improv events are weather-permitting (after all, it's hard to relax and get your "Om" on in a torrential downpour). More information can be found at www.batteryatl.com.
