May usually is filled with many celebrations, ranging from graduations to weddings to outdoor parties.

This month already has seen May the Fourth festivities, and Wednesday is Cinco de Mayo.

In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is widely known as a celebration of Mexican-American culture filled with margaritas, tacos and tons of fun.

May 5 is not Mexico’s independence day, though. It is a celebration of the Mexican army’s surprising victory over France at the 1862 Battle of Puebla.
