A Bartow County high school teacher has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student, the sheriff’s office said Thursday.
Chad Wade Clift, 41, of Rome, was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault, Sheriff Clark Millsap said. Clift was later released after posting $25,000 bond. Conditions of his bond stipulate that Clift is not allowed contact with the student, according to police.
The Bartow school police chief reported the alleged assault to the Board of Education and the sheriff’s office, Millsap said. Clift resigned from his position at Cass High School, in White.
Investigators determined the inappropriate incident happened off campus.
