Call it a smash-and-grab perpetrated by potentially well-groomed burglars.

The Sally Beauty Supply store in the 2600 block of Piedmont Road in northeast Atlanta was broken into early Tuesday, and police said the target of the thieves was apparently barber clippers, and lots of them.

Officers responding to a 4:55 a.m. alarm call found the glass front door shattered next to the lock mechanism, according to Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones.

The thieves had already fled the store when officers arrived, Jones said.

She said the officers found three shopping carts full of barber clippers, one outside the store and the other two still inside.

While store employees were unable to give an accurate account of stolen property until an inventory was taken, “barber clippers seemed to be the only target in the burglary,” Jones said.
