A 5-month-old baby was among three people injured in a Thursday afternoon crash in Woodstock.

Investigators believe a black Ford pickup rolled several times before landing on the wall underneath the Ridgewalk Parkway overpass on I-575 northbound, according to Tim Cavender, spokesman for the Cherokee County fire department.

The man driving, whose name was not released, had to be extricated from the wreckage and was in critical condition while being transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Cavender said.

“A female passenger was able to remove herself from the truck and was found sitting underneath the bridge with her 5-month-old baby,” Cavender said in an emailed statement.

The woman sustained numerous cuts, but was in stable condition. The baby, conscious and alert, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite for evaluation.

The wreck, which occurred just after 1:30 p.m., temporarily blocked the northbound lanes of I-575 at Ridgewalk Parkway, according to Brittany Duncan, spokeswoman for Woodstock police. One lane re-opened about an hour later, Duncan said.

The cause of wreck remained under investigation.
