An Atlanta police officer accused of driving drunk in Cobb County told Channel 2 Action News he made “a poor choice.”

Officer Theodore Travis was driving Sunday near the intersection of Lost Mountain and Macland roads in Powder Springs when police pulled him over for driving erratically, the television station reported.

Officer Theodore Travis was driving along Lost Mountain and Macland Roads when he was pulled over for driving erratically on Dec. 18, according to documents.

Travis had duty equipment and a service weapon in his car when he was arrested.

“Ma’am, it was just a poor choice by me but no comment,” he told Channel 2.

Travis, who has been with the Atlanta Police Department since 2012, faces charges of driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.

"The investigation is being handled by our Office of Professional Standards,” an Atlanta police spokesman told Channel 2."Officer Travis is relieved of duty and is on paid administrative leave until further notice."

Travis is expected in court Feb. 24, according to the television station.
