A man was shot inside Piedmont Park on Saturday night after an argument with an acquaintance escalated to gunfire, police said.

Officers were called to Piedmont Avenue inside the park around 8:30 p.m. and found a man who appeared to have been shot, Atlanta police said in a news release. He was stable when he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the man and another person were involved in an argument when the acquaintance pulled out a gun and began shooting, police said.

The victim did not provide responding officers with information on the suspected shooter. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify the suspect.
