Forest Park Police and the Faith & Blue organization are joining forces to boost community engagement through the National Faith & Blue Weekend.

The event, which takes place this weekend, brings together law enforcement and residents to build connections, create mutual understanding and to enhance justice and reconciliation, the department said. National Faith & Blue Weekend is an extension of One Congregation One Precinct Initiative, an Atlanta-based program bridge-building human and civil rights organization.

The weekend begins of Friday with Coffee with the Chief from 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. at the BP Gas Station at 4950 Old Dixie Highway in Forest Park. On Saturday, there will be Community Unity Day from 1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Forest Park Police Department, 320 Cash Memorial Boulevard in Forest Park.

The events will include free food, raffles, employment opportunities and COVID-19 testing and vaccinations.
