After a near-freezing night, metro Atlantans are getting milder temperatures for Christmas and through the end of the year.

“We’re going to see some really nice weather conditions (Wednesday),” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

Temps on Christmas will top out in the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. No rain is in the forecast, but it’ll be a bit breezy.

“Into the late evening hours, we’ll notice a few more clouds rolling in, and that’s actually going to help us out,” Deon said. “Temperature wise, if you are going to be out late Christmas evening or night, temperatures around 11 o’clock will still be in the lower to mid 40s.”

That is because the cold air mass that has been over the metro area is retreating, ushering in highs in the upper 50s and even 60s for the weekend, she said.

Along with the warmer weather, we’ll also get a better opportunity for rain. Deon said the rain chance will increase into the weekend with a 60% chance for precipitation on Saturday and Sunday.
