Investigators believe a dispute between two college students led one to shoot and the kill the other Thursday afternoon in Sandy Springs. But late Friday, the murder suspect remained on the loose, according to police.
Takeenan Williams, 23, died at Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot multiple times, according to Capt. Steve Rose. Early Friday, police identified the accused shooter as Patricko Mondrez Davis, 21, of Atlanta.
Both Williams and Davis attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, according to police. And both were in a student housing complex known as the Hub at the time of the shooting, around 4 p.m. But neither lived in the complex, located on Barfield Road near the intersection with Hammond Drive, according to address records.
Williams lived about two miles north of the Hub. Davis lives in Atlanta, Rose said.
After being shot multiple times, Williams was able to walk a short distance before collapsing in the parking lot of an office complex, next door to a Sheraton hotel, Rose said. Thursday afternoon, portions of the parking lot were cordoned off while officers canvassed the area in search of witnesses.
“Information, developed later into the night, gave detectives evidence to secure a murder warrant for Davis, who is believed to have shot Williams following a dispute,” Rose said in an emailed statement Friday.
The shooting death remains under investigation.
