Arrest made in deadly shooting at Athens apartment

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at an Athens apartment complex in December.

Danny Louis Sims Jr., 22, of Athens, faces murder and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery charges, Athens-Clarke County Police Department spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said.

Clinton Patterson died Jan. 1, just more than a week after the incident. The shooting happened Dec. 21 at North Grove Apartments on Old Hull Road.

Police are also searching for a second man accused in the case. They obtained warrants for the arrest of Readale Michael Thomas, 21, on murder and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery charges.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Thomas is asked to call police.
