Jackson State University locked down during Wednesday shooting

Jackson State University in Mississippi was briefly locked down Wednesday morning while police investigated a shooting on campus.
Police confirmed a shooting on Lynch Street, which is on the campus of the historically black university in Jackson, Mississippi.
Students were told to take shelter while the shooter, allegedly driving a black Honda Accord, was reported to be on campus.
We have an active shooter on campus. The suspected shooter is in a black Honda Accord, license plate number MAC 0214. The entire campus community should take shelter immediately. The campus is currently on lock down. We will notify you when the situation is resolved.

The victim’s condition is unknown.
#JPD is investigating a shooting in the 1100 block of Lynch St. occurring just after 11am. Initial reports are that a male has been wounded. His condition is unknown. No motive or suspect info currently available.

The lockdown was soon lifted by the university.
Update: The JSU campus lock down has been lifted. The campus community is no longer under threat of an active shooter.
