A 71-year-old man from Tucker faces misdemeanor charges after he was involved in a fatal crash with a motorcycle last Friday.

Gordon Grainger was charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to yield while turning left after the accident on Alpharetta Highway, according to Roswell police.

Police identified the deceased motorcycle rider as Michael Hurley, 49, of Peachtree Corners.

Hurley was traveling north on Alpharetta Highway on his motorcycle shortly before 7 p.m., AJC.com previously reported. He was approaching the intersection with Commerce Parkway when Grainger’s southbound minivan turned into his path while entering an Arby’s parking lot, Roswell police spokesman Officer Sean Thompson said.

The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the minivan, throwing Hurley into the road.

A Roswell police sergeant was patrolling nearby and responded to the aftermath of the crash. He found Hurley unresponsive and with serious injuries. The sergeant, along with civilian bystanders, administered first aid until emergency services arrived and declared Hurley dead.
