In a matter of seconds, some smash-and-grab robbers swiped a half-million dollars worth of watches Friday night, according to police.

Investigators believe at least five men entered the Mayors Jewelers store around 6:30 p.m., Sgt. Greg Lyon with Atlanta police told the AJC.

Two of the men then produced hammers and smashed the display case containing Rolex watches, Lyon said. The robbers grabbed at least 20 timepieces, worth at least a half-million dollars, in about 30 seconds, he said

The men then left the mall in a white van, which was found a short distance later, Lyon said. No one was inside, he said.

Investigators were reviewing surveillance video from the store late Friday.
