Three people have died after a small plane crashed in a Pembroke Pines, Florida, neighborhood on Monday afternoon, hitting a car as it went down, officials said.

The boy who was in the car reportedly died late Monday, according to CBSMiami, which cited the Pembroke Pines fire chief.

The mother who was in the car was in critical condition at Memorial Regional Hospital, according to reporter Karli Barnett.

The two passengers in the plane died at the scene, according to officials.

Pembroke Pines Police said the crash happened near Southwest 72nd Avenue and Southwest 13th Street.

Surveillance footage from a nearby home showed the plane coming down and hitting the car before slamming into the ground and erupting into a ball of flames, according to NBC 6 News in South Florida.

The plane, a single-engine Beechfront Bonanza, was en route to North Perry Airport, Barnett reported.
