Officials said two people tossed drugs and thousands of dollars out of a moving car while fleeing a traffic stop. Now, they’re both charged with methamphetamine trafficking, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Larry Williams, 42, of Flowery Branch, and Amanda Ryder, 38, of Ball Ground, were taken into custody Wednesday night, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Williams was driving on Matt Highway shortly before midnight Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said. Ryder was a passenger in the vehicle.
A deputy spotted the car failing to maintain its lane and tried to pull it over near Heardmont Trace, officials said. However, the car did not stop, prompting a pursuit, the sheriff’s office said.
During the pursuit, the deputy saw Williams and Ryder toss several items out of the car window, the statement said. Deputies eventually used a PIT maneuver to stop Williams’ car.
Investigators recovered about 10 ounces of methamphetamine and nearly $5,000 in cash from the roadside. Deputies determined both Williams and Ryder had outstanding felony warrants for their arrests, the sheriff’s office said.
They were both taken to the Forsyth County jail, where they remain without bond.
In addition to meth trafficking, Williams is charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. Ryder is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects.
