A 15-year-old student has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing Friday at Clarkston High School, DeKalb County School District officials confirmed Saturday.

A fellow student was stabbed in the chest during a fight on campus, district officials said Friday. Channel 2 Action News said it occurred shortly before classes dismissed.

The victim, an 18-year-old student at the school, was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital and was stable, according to the district.

No further details were released about the 15-year-old. DeKalb school police did not release the name or respective cities of residency of the suspect or stabbing victim.

According to the district, the victim fled the campus after the stabbing and ran to a nearby apartment complex, where he was being treated by EMS when officers found him.

It remains unclear what prompted the fight between the two students.
