One person was killed and another was seriously injured when their vehicle wrecked on I-85 in Gwinnett County early Wednesday morning.

Two tractor-trailers were also involved in the crash just south of the Jimmy Carter Boulevard exit, Gwinnett police told Channel 2 Action News.

The deadly incident shut down multiple northbound lanes of the interstate for several hours overnight. The lanes were closed shortly after midnight and did not reopen until just before 6 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Police said the driver of the car was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and a passenger was dead at the scene. No other information about the wreck was released Wednesday morning.
