Frequently, Roswell police officers are required to work at city facilities based on location, time of reservations, number of attendees, overnight security, or if alcohol is being served. For some time now, the city’s officers were paid $40 per hour for this off-duty work.

On Aug. 9, 2021, the city voted to move the Park Police Division from the Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department to the Police Department. The rate charged by the Roswell Police Department for off-duty employment is $45.00 per hour.

As a result, the Roswell City Council voted recently to match the current hourly rate for off-duty employment of the Roswell Police Department when officers are working off-duty at city facilities.

There is no financial impact to the city. The expense for off-duty officers to work a facility reservation is the sole responsibility of the renter.
