Lilburn residents are a bit tired of loud cars on their streets. As a result, the Lilburn City Council recently adopted changes to the city’s noise ordinance specifically related to loud automobiles.

The revised section of the noise ordinance now reads, “No person shall operate or cause to be operated a private motor vehicle on a public right-of-way within the City of Lilburn at any time in such a manner that the sound level emitted by the motor vehicle, including but not limited to the vehicle’s engine, muffler system or other mechanical parts, when measured at a distance of 50 feet or more, exceeds 95 decibels. If the vehicle is being operated in a predominately residential area, then the sound level shall not exceed 50 decibels from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and 70 decibels from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.”
