With Thanksgiving right around the corner, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and and a local law firm are partnering to give away 1,000 free turkeys and boxes of food to those in need.

The DeKalb County megachurch and Witherite Law Group will distribute the food starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17. No pre-registration is required and food will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis at the church’s campus, located at 6400 Woodrow Road in Stonecrest.

Boxes that accompany the turkeys will include fresh fruits, vegetables, shelf-stable food items, and “other essential items,” officials said.

Big Tigger, morning show host from radio station V-103, will also be on-site for the event.

“The COVID-19 pandemic marked not only a global health crisis but also a financial one that has increased food insecurities across the nation and around the world,” New Birth Senior Pastor Jamal Harrison Bryant said in a news release. “We are thrilled to partner with Witherite Law Group and V-103 to give 1,000 families something to truly be thankful for this holiday season.”
