The Cobb County home of former Atlanta Falcons running back Mike Davis was broken into in early May, police said, resulting in the theft of custom cleats that were designed in the memory of his father and $121,000 in accessories.
It was while Davis was out for dinner May 4, two days after he was released by the Falcons, that he got an alert on his phone about the break-in around 9:50 p.m., an incident reported obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution states. He told officers he watched two men wearing gray hoodies and masks walk up the stairs of his back patio with handguns.
The report reveals that a Gucci bag, two diamond necklaces, two Cartier bracelets and four tennis chains were stolen. Davis tweeted that the thieves also stole a pair of cleats made in memory of his father, who died from cancer in 2019.
“The devil works hard but I ain’t gone let it ruin me. Some youngins broke into my crib and stole my jewelry. But the most important thing they stole was my cleats with my dad name and cancer cause on it. Now that hurts,” he wrote in a tweet.
Davis, who was born in DeKalb County, graduated from Stephenson High School, where he played football and ran track, and played college football at the University of South Carolina.
He began his NFL career after being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 2015. Six years later, he signed with the Falcons and rushed for 503 yards on 138 carries during his only season with the franchise. After being released in the offseason, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.
No arrests have been made in the Cobb robbery.
