Your kid can learn to be a shark during winter break at ‘Shark Tank’ camp

Children can learn entrepreneurial skills with a camp modeled after the hit show

Facts about school in the 19th Century School monitors were students elected by teachers to instruct other students -- and not just ones their own age. Over time, the in-class monitors evolved to just patrol halls and passes. No school buses here. Most schoolhouses were within walking distance. The school year was shorter. Students attended for 132 days compared to today's standard 180 days. Education typically ended after eighth grade rather than students graduating high school after grade 12.

The cutthroat reality competition series “Shark Tank” has come to Alpharetta — sort of.

Phase Family Learning Center will hold the second installment of a camp based on the entrepreneurial show during winter break.

Meant to promote the generosity of the season, this Dec. 30- Jan. 3 camp will see students craft projects, create games and make one-of-a-kind products. To do so, they’ll use skills learned from guest entrepreneurs and daily team challenges. Campers will then present their projects to families of Phase benefiting a local charity.

Phase Family Learning Center is a full-service facility focusing on local families’ needs. It offers programs for children ranging from infants and toddlers to school-age kids. The babies’ schedules focus on care routines. They also have play time and twice daily outdoor time. Before- and after-school programs are available for older children. They participate in activities like music, dramatic play, cooking and fitness.
