If you're hoping to get active after Valentine's Day, the Suwanee Sweetheart Sprint 5K is happening this weekend.
The ninth annual event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Buford/North Gwinnett, is open for registration ahead of the Saturday, Feb. 15 race. Lots of activity is in store at the event, which serves as a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race.

“Wrap up your Valentine's with the Suwanee Sweetheart Sprint! Grab a friend or special someone and register as a team. There will be a costume contest so wear your best Valentine's attire. There will be awards by age group so make it a family event!” reads the event description.
Medals will be awarded for each age group, men and women and there’s a Valentine’s-themed costume contest. Don’t forget your pup, either, as they’ll be able to get a medal for the fastest dog.
Registration is $35 for an individual age group 5K run and $55 for the same category as a group. Those who'd rather stay home can register for the Pajama Run and donate $25 for a t-shirt.
Returning after its introduction last year is the 1K Fun Run around Suwanee Town Center Park, which will occur after the 5K and before the award ceremony. In the race, children will earn a t-shirt and finisher ribbon. It’s $20 to register.
The fun isn’t just limited to the races, though. Ahead of the 5K, runners and their families are invited to a pre-race warm up, listen to the sounds spun by the DJ and have some fun with the mascot. Once the race is over, guests can snap photos with their loved ones at the photo booth after sipping on hot chocolate and nibbling on post-race snacks.
