For the first time, Stone Mountain Park will hold a weeklong series of events to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.

Billed as the ā€œFantastic Fourth Celebration,ā€ it will include nightly fireworks displays, attractions and high-flying dog shows, where visitors can watch amazing dogs at the Historic Square do stunts, Frisbee catching and dock-diving. It runs Sunday through Saturday.

ā€œA busy family doesn’t have to worry about just getting out on the Fourth of July,ā€ said James Taylor, a spokesman for Stone Mountain Park. ā€œThere’s something every night.ā€

Taylor said the celebration was extended due to demand.

July Fourth revelers may have hit the jackpot there because the holiday falling on a Wednesday allows for greater flexibility for visitors.

ā€œIt’s a huge show,ā€ said Taylor. ā€œIt’s intense. The show will have a little more boom to it.ā€

Each night the fireworks will be followed by the park’s popular laser show, which will feature new music, animation, water effects, an immersive laser canopy and a fleet of robotic drones launched with music in front of the 825-foot mountain face.
