Atlanta will be a natural hair mecca this weekend as the Sisterlocks Freedom Tour makes a stop here.

“It's our 25th anniversary and we're bringing it in with a bang. If you love celebrations, laughter, learning, networking and shopping then the Freedom Tour Atlanta is the place to be,” said Sisterlocks founder JoAnne Cornwell.

Some of the nation’s noted natural hair legends will be present at the conference at The American Hotel by Hilton downtown — including Cornwell, Gunnery Sgt. Cherie Wright, who helped change the military rules regarding natural hairstyles; Pamela Ferrell, founder of Cornrows and Co; and local Atlanta natural hair care guru Sonya “Sistah Nandi” Gilkey, inventor of the Wrap-A-Loc tool.

The conference will include workshops on caring for and styling natural locs and preventing hair loss and self-care workshops such as Natural Beauty with Healing Herbs.

“I am elated to share the platform with other trailblazers who have ignited change, acceptance and rediscovery of self through the empowerment of natural hair.” Gilkey said.
