Father's Day is upon us and if you happen to be super broke, but still wanna make your Dad look at you with approval–we suggest sittin' back havin' a drink and enjoying a flick with ole' Dad. What do Dads like when it comes to movies? The mind of a Dad isn't that complex at all, especially when it comes to cinematic taste. Here's a list of movies that will make your Dad forget about that time you messed up his yard during that high school party you threw.

While Arnold Schwarzenegger's fathering skills might be questionable, almost every single one of his movies is Dad approved. This particular Arnold movie has it all. Guns, explosions and even a kidnapping. The topper for your Pops will be at the end when Schwarzenegger's character dispatches of the primary villain. He sticks a pipe through the man's chest until that pipe pierces a steam pipe. The steam comes roaring out of the pipe that Arnie securely placed in the bad guy's chest and Arnold says "Let off some steam!" Dads love that.

2. Over The Top

Another of Dad’s favorite actors is definitely Sylvester Stallone. And this movie is a quintessential piece from the Stallone collection. A man is on a quest to be the ultimate arm wrestling champion. He drives a truck AND brings his kid along for the ride. A ride that includes an arm wrestling match so hardcore, a man’s arm bone snaps through the skin. Make it a Father’s Day Dad will remember forever with the cinematic Dad-sterpiece- “Over The Top.”

3. The Great Outdoors

It’s a John Candy movie WITH DAN AKROYD! This epic duo alone is enough to make your Dad proud of you for choosing it… but there’s more. The plot is about a Dad trying to connect with his kids. Watchin’ this movie on Father’s Day will increase your chances of getting Dad’s pesky co-signature on that car loan paperwork.

Another actor that reaches right into the brains of Dads is Kurt Russel. Dads relate to him. The John Carpenter film “Big Trouble in Little China,” is a perfect choice for a Father’s day movie bonanza. It’s got karate, hot chicks, semi-trucks AND Victor Wong. After watching this movie would be a great time to talk to Daddy about investing in your business idea.

One failsafe that father and son can always connect on is zombies. Dads a dude and dudes can't get enough of reanimated corpses sieging cities and towns for brains. "Zombieland" is probably the finest in Dad zombie movies for several reasons. First off, it is one of the finest in the genre. It also has two actors that Dad will love. Woody Harrelson made your Dad laugh on a show you haven't heard of called "Cheers" back in the day. Seeing Woody unleashing the beast on the undead will fill your poppa with glee. Also, Dad's love Bill Murray… and his cameo in this will make ole' Padre jump for joy.

A little know fact about Dads and movies is that they have been following the Coen brothers since "Raising Arizona." This movie will fill Dad's heart with joy via the arguments of Walter and Donnie. Dads also love them some Jeff Bridges. Combine that with all the wonder that this flick will unfold in front of Dad's wise old eyes… and sharing "The Big Lebowski" is the best Father's Day gift any son could ever give.
