‘Top model’ returns to hometown Kennesaw

Aug 13, 2009

He’s been the face of Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani and numerous others.

His statuesque features and piercing blue eyes have graced countless magazine pages.

In June, he was named “world’s most successful male model of 2009” by Forbes.

And he’s from Kennesaw.

Sean O’Pry just turned 20 last month and he’s already an international sensation.

Just three years ago, he was a student at North Cobb High School. He posted some of his prom pictures on his MySpace page, and that was all it took to launch a career.

Those prom pictures apparently caught the eye of fashion icon Nolé Marin, best known for his work as a judge on television’s “America’s Next Top Model.” Within a matter of days, O’Pry had landed a major ad campaign.

On Monday, the in-demand O’Pry will take a break from big city life and return to his roots. He’ll attend the Kennesaw City Council meeting, where he will be recognized by Mayor Mark Mathews.

“Kennesaw is proud of Sean’s incredible success as an international model, but we are especially proud that he remembers his southern roots and shares his love for his hometown in his interviews,” Mathews said.

The proclamation will be held during the 6:30 p.m. city council meeting, according to Pamela Davis with the City of Kennesaw.
