It's toasty outside; we're still hanging on to 90 degrees even after the sun sets. That's the perfect excuse to cool off with a frosty brew. The number of beer festivities this month will keep you busy. Here are 13 August events to add to your calendar.

Hard Rock Cafe's Goose Island Tropical Bacon Burger. (Until Aug. 31) Hard Rock features a half-pound patty brushed with Goose Island IPA glaze and topped with chili spiced bacon, grilled pineapple, mango salsa, chipotle purée, arugula and cheddar cheese. The limited edition burger is served with seasoned fries and a side of housemade Goose Island IPA barbecue sauce. Order your IPA burger on a Monday and you can enjoy live music at the Velvet Underground, too.

Root beer at Shake Shack Buckhead. (Aug. 6) In honor of National Root Beer Float Day, stop by the Buckhead Shack for an all-natural treat. Each Shack float starts with an Abita Brewing Company draught root beer. Add to that a scoop of Shake Shack's frozen custard. Yum! If you need a harder brew, then stop in Aug 17 for Pint Night.

Grand 2.0 Columbus Whitewater Paddle. (Aug. 6-7) In partnership with Georgia Conservancy and Whitewater Express, the Grand 2.0 celebrates rafting in Columbus. Tickets include deep discounts on whitewater rafting, live music and a free SweetWater beer for every paddler over 21 years old. From the kickoff party at The Loft to the after-paddle party in Woodruff Park, heady SweetWater brews will be served all-weekend long, with proceeds going to The Georgia Conservancy.

First Fridays at Second Self. (Aug. 7) Second Self hosts Chef Rusty Bowers from Pine Street Market, serving $5 plates of BBQ and Southern sides paired with brews. The beer lineup includes Second Self's latest release, XMAS in July, a light Belgian beer with coriander, clove, pink peppercorn and orange peel.

Orpheus Pint Night at Varuni Napoli. (Aug. 7) In celebration of International Beer Day, Orpheus Brewing and Varuni Napoli are teaming up for a beer and pizza pairing! Purchase any Orpheus beer at Varuni Napoli and receive a free Orpheus pint glass (while supplies last.)

Bone Lick BBQ Anniversary Party. (Aug. 8) Celebrate three years of Bone Lick BBQ with a hot sauce cook-off, a hot dog eating contest and more. Stop by from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. for free beer and rib combos while supplies last, if you give their Facebook page a "like." The full food and drink menu is also available.

Ice Cream and Beer with Whole Foods Market Buckhead. (Aug. 8) Whole Foods Market Buckhead hosts a High Road Ice Cream tour and class followed by a beer dinner with Second Self Pairings. Attendees will head to High Road Craft Ice Cream in Marietta for a tour and then will make their own ice cream. End the evening with a three-course beer-paired dinner, with ice cream for dessert, of course. Tickets are $50 and can be reserved by emailing Margaret.Schwenke@wholefoods.com. All proceeds to benefit Urban Recipe, an organization that provides food to those in need.

Bites, Beers and Bands at Aja Restaurant & Bar. (Aug. 9) Executive chefs from each of Here To Serve's restaurants showcase their grilling skills including classic BBQ favorites from Chef Dan Garner of Prime, housemade sausage from Chef Peter Kaiser of Twist, classic Surf n' Turf from Chef Phillip Strange of Strip and more. Each dish will be paired with a different regional or local craft beer.

Monday Night Brewing's Tap Takeover at Bourbon Bar. (Aug. 10 and every Monday) Every Monday, Bourbon Bar's taps feature four Monday Night brews as well as tasting flights and ham bar pairings. Featured beers rotate based on availability and include limited-time small batch beers along with signature customer favorites such as pseudo-Pilsner Nerd Alert, aged scotch ale Bourbon Barrel Drafty Kilt, American IPA Eye Patch Ale and imperial red ale Master Splinter.

The Farmer Fund Launch Party.
