Atlanta Hot Chocolate Race

A true runner doesn't let a little thing like cold weather get in the way of a race. And if there is hot chocolate waiting for at the end of the race, even better.

Whether you’re racing for glory or a new T-shirt, there’s bound to be a chilly course around Atlanta that’s perfect for you.

Freakin Freezin 5K | 8:30 a.m. Jan. 14

3150 Old Alabama Road Alpharetta

Yes, it's freakin' freezin', but that doesn't mean you can't crush a run. This 5K will take place at Newtown Park in Alpharetta. Individual entry is $25.

Participants  automatically qualifiy for free entry in the Five Star Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.

Frozen 5K/Snowflake 1K | 8 a.m. Jan. 28

5630 Macland Road Powder Springs

Do you want to build a snowman? Well, maybe you can at the Frozen 5K. The course takes place entirely on the trails of the Still Family Farm, so there are no cars to contend with. Registration is $30 for the 5K and $21 for the 1K.

Runners who dress up as their favorite Disney character will be entered to win special prizes. (Maybe dress like a certain queen who was never bothered by the cold anyway?)

Hot Chocolate Run | 7:40 a.m. Jan. 22

Centennial Park, 265 Park Ave W NW, Atlanta, GA 30313

This one is for all of you runners with a sweet tooth. Taking place at Turner Field, this race is one of the largest 5Ks in Atlanta. Runners can choose a 5K course or a 15K one, winding through downtown Atlanta.

At the end of the race, shivering participants will be treated to a smorgasbord of chocolatey goodness including hot chocolate, cookies, chocolate fondue and marshmallows, with rice crispy treats to dip into it. The medal is even shaped like a chocolate bar. Registration is $54 for the 5K and $79 for the 15K.

Java Jog | 8:30 a.m. Jan. 28

445 Martin Road, Dawsonville

When a race begins early in the morning, coffee is a must. So why not use that as the motivation? The Java Jog is a fast and flat race at the Rock Creek Athletic Complex. Entry is $25 and goes to support the 4H Club of Dawsonville.

Hot chocolate — and, yes, coffee — will be waiting for runners at the end.

This year's race is a qualifier for the AJC Peachtree Road RaceRegistration is $25 and the proceeds go to JF High School music students.
