It’s officially awards season, and the Golden Globes are kicking things off this weekend. But how much do you actually know about the ceremony?

No. 1

The very first ceremony was held in 1944 and only honored achievements in filmmaking. Television awards were added 11 years later.

The Globes have been held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel since 1961.

The Golden Globes have only been canceled one time, in 2008, due to the Writers Guild strike.
