It was a moment that the whole world knew was coming. Yet, it was a moment that many assumed would stay private forevermore.
Yet, Rory Feek just shared the very last words of his dear wife Joey, who passed away in March of 2016 from cancer.
"We repeated 'I love you' three times to each other," Rory said in a recent interview with People. "It's the last line of a song I wrote years ago called 'Josephine,' an imaginary love story between a husband and wife."
It was those three little words that bound the two together throughout their marriage. "For most all of our marriage – in the birthday, Valentine's Day or anniversary cards we gave each other and before we went to bed – we have always said the same thing," Rory said.
Joey+Rory fans' appreciation for the love that these two shared is evident in the already impressive support for the upcoming movie "To Joey, With Love," which will run in select theaters on both Sept. 20 and Oct. 6.
And it's likely the couple's daughter Indiana will play a big part in the movie. "Just like she did for Joey, Indy makes me laugh a lot," Rory said in the same interview. "She's the child we were meant to have."
