As reports that music icon Prince had died in Minneapolis began to hit the web, reactions started to pour in on social media.

Since that the news has been confirmed, celebrities have taken to their Twitter accounts to express their love for the artist and their sadness over his death.

From Questlove to Kerry Washington, here is what a few of them had to say:

Prince performed two shows at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta just one week before dying. The singer originally postponed the shows, saying that he was battling the flu. Shortly after leaving Atlanta, news broke that his plane made an emergency landing. The singer was rushed to the hospital.

A rep later told TMZ that Prince "wanted to make Thursday night's performance in Atlanta, even though he was still not feeling well." He started feeling worse after leaving Atlanta, hence the emergency landing. After a brief hospital stay in Moline he boarded the plane and "is now back home.'"

Prince performed a brief concert at Paisley Park on Saturday.

“Wait a few days before you waste any prayers,” he told fans at that show.
