At the mid-year point, Philips Arena retains its ranking as third in the U.S. based on ticket sales.

The downtown Atlanta venue, which also ended 2013 as third in the country, has now ranked in the top five for the ninth time since opening nearly 15 years ago.

The rankings are bestowed upon the top 100 arenas; Philips also places 21st worldwide – the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Izod Center in New Jersey are the only two U.S. venues ahead of it – with 226, 211 tickets sold this year.

The home of the Atlanta Hawks has so far this year hosted marquee tours from Cher, Miley Cyrus, the Eagles, George Strait, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon and Imagine Dragons.

The rest of the 2014 lineup should solidify its top three ranking with events from Oprah Winfrey (her “The Life You Want Weekend” pulls in Sept. 5-6) and Disney on Ice (celebrating all that is “Frozen” Oct. 8-12) and concerts from Paul McCartney (Oct. 15), The Black Keys (Dec. 11) and Fleetwood Mac (Dec. 17) on the itinerary.
