The lead-up to Miranda Lambert’s new single, "Vice," has been extensive, filled with clues such as intriguing Instagram pics and titillating tweets that had fans wondering if her new music would give anyone a clue to what happened between her and ex-husband Blake Shelton.

And on July 18, we got our answer.

Well, sort of.

With the song lyrics including lines such as "maybe I’m addicted to goodbyes" to "sweet salvation on a dining room table" to "another vice, another call, another bed I shouldn’t crawl," it wouldn’t be surprising for many fans to jump to the conclusion that Miranda herself might be telling her very own story of regret. Yet, this song could just as easily tell a story of a fictional woman who’s on a scary downward spiral, dreamed up by Miranda and her team of co-writers, including Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne and producers Frank Liddell, Glenn Worf and Eric Masse.

And therein lies the beauty of country music -- we might never know.

What we do know is "Vice" is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that takes Miranda into a whole new smoky and sultry stratosphere both lyrically and sonically. It has also left fans craving more for what her new album might sound like -- especially if this song is any indication of what's to come.

Stay as a needle dropping on a vinyl
Neon singer with a jukebox title full of heartbreak...
33, 45, 78...
When it hurts this good you gotta play it twice
Another vice!

All dressed up in a pretty black label
Sweet salvation on a dining room table
Waiting on me
Where the numb meets the lonely

It's gone before it ever melts the ice
Another vice...!

Another call, another bed I shouldn't crawl out of
At 7AM with shoes in my hand
Said I wouldn't do it, but I did it again
And I know I'll be back tomorrow night, oh

I'll wear a tail like a leather jacket
When the new wears off, I don't even pack it
If you need me
I'll be where my reputation don't proceed me

Maybe I'm addicted to goodbyes
Another vice...!

Another town, where my past can't run me down
Another life, another call, another bed I shouldn't crawl out of
At 7AM with shoes in my hand
Said I wouldn't do it, but I did it again
And I know I'll be gone tomorrow night
Mmm, another vice

Standing at the sink now, looking at the mirror
Don't know where I am or how I got here
Well the only thing that I know how to find
Is another vice!

Mmm another vice
Yes, another vice
Ooh, another vice
Another vice
Another vice
