Memphis police have arrested a man who they say admitted to stealing Sir Elton John's heart-shaped sunglasses from a display case at the Rock 'n' Soul Museum earlier this month.

Police say Matthew Colvin, 26, is in custody in DeSoto County, Mississippi, a police spokesman said. The Anglo-American-Apparel eyeglasses and a red L.A. Eyeworks sleeve, which were at a home in Southaven, Mississippi, have been retrieved and returned undamaged.

John Doyle, executive director of the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum, told WHBQ-TV that the glasses previously owned by John will be back on display at the museum Wednesday.

The glasses and case are on loan to the museum by Hard Rock Cafe International.

"We are grateful to the Memphis Police Department for their swift action, hard work and expertise in securing the return of the stolen item," Doyle said.

Colvin is being held with no bond and is expected to make his first appearance in court as early as Wednesday.
