The South by Southwest Film Festival will open with Jordan Peele’s upcoming thriller “Us” on March 8 in Austin, Texas.
"We are crazy excited to world premiere the most anticipated film of 2019 from the creative powerhouse that brought us 'Get Out,'" SXSW director of film Janet Pierson said in a statement. "We honestly couldn't imagine a more perfect film to kick off the 2019 SXSW Film Festival."
Written and directed by Peele, “Us” is set in Northern California and stars Lupita Nyong’o and “Black Panther’s” Winston Duke as Adelaide and Gabe Wilson. The couple and their two children are on a summer getaway that turns into a fight between the family and masked strangers who take on the appearance of each family member.

Variety reported that the opening of the film marks the second year in a row that the festival will open with a thriller. Last year, John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place" marked the start of the festivities.
The Wrap reported that SXSW will release its full list of films Jan. 16 and the festival will be held March 8-17.
"Us" will be in theaters March 15. The movie trailer can be watched below.
