WSB-AM host Mike Kavanagh dies at age 57
Mike Kavanagh, host of Atlanta radio station WSB-AM's popular "Money Matters" program, died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Kavanagh, 57, and his family were decorating their home for the holidays when he suffered a heart attack, said Condace Pressley, the station's assistant program director.
WSB paid tribute to Kavanagh by re-airing a show he did a couple of weeks ago in which Santa Claus was a guest. Fans of his show called into the station to express their condolences and share stories about the radio personality's kindness and generosity — both off and on the air.
The radio station has made no decisions as to what will come of "Money Matters," which debuted in 1990, Pressley said.
"We haven't even begun to discuss that; we are still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that he's gone," she said. "We haven't even given any thought to what will happen next week."

In 2007, Kavanagh celebrated 40 years in radio and TV work. Since the late 1980s, he spent time between broadcasting and private work as a "fee only" certified financial planner.
